From a distance, it could seem like a bunch of crazy people that are randomly and sometimes spastically moving around the room to world music. What's the big deal !?!
This is one of my favorite healing practices. It is so deeply healing to show up in our bodies and get to know our authentic expression of ourselves through movement. No words. Moving Meditation. Freedom. Play. I call it a meditation because we are putting ourselves in a very specific and sacred environment and setting the intention to surrender our minds to the movement inspired by the music. It is a process, a practice, ever evolving..like any meditation.
It is one thing to go to a dance class, it is a whole other Beast of Beauty to go figure out how to express yourself through movement without someone telling you how to do it! Ahhh, the responsibility of freedom...What do we do when no-one tells us what to do? How are we inspired to move? What are we comfortable expressing/embodying? Do we feel authentic in our movement? Does that change in font of others? How do we feel about our level of engagement with others on the Dance floor? What are our boundaries with others in the room, and how do we express them?
....all the while remembering there is no right or wrong way to have this experience..... to surrender judgement to self-love over and over.
These may or may not be conscious thoughts/experiences.... yet these and much more are being encountered and worked out or surrendered on a body level, and slowly integrated and translated into our everyday experience to guide the way we choose to move through our lives.
Joy, bliss, contentment, peace and freedom all come from self-inquiry and loving understanding...
It seems easier to learn about relationship to self and other through our bodies sometimes...somehow deeper and more gentle than words. See for yourself....I dare you!
